Reading about Tupac’s life experience through the lens of poetry is an informative journey and one that is highly important for those in the legal field. Tupac discusses many relevant issues that continue to plague society and in particular young black men. These issues include the war on drugs, police brutality, racism, classism, poverty, and feelings of hopelessness. Lawyers are often coming from a place of privilege and can benefit to read firsthand experiences of issues that they may either be trying to combat, or unaware of entirely, but should have knowledge of in order to better provide care for their clients. It is specifically important for those in the legal field to understand the consequences that the law can have on those it is designed to protect and the ways they may be complacent in a system of harm.
